With more than 15 years’ experience in the industry, Mia is the heart and helm of Mia Lake Interiors.

She is supported by a team of dedicated professionals, who share her eye for beauty and style.

Throughout the design process, clients engage with the entire team, and we pride ourselves on creative collaboration.

Our staff approach their work with passion and curiosity, backed up by knowledge, talent and design qualifications.

Mia has held senior interior design positions at Briony Fitzgerald Design, Arent&Pyke and was the Interior Director at Vic Lake Architects. She has an understanding of all aspects of design, plus a respect for all consultants and trades.

 
 
 
 

MIA’S STORY

When I was younger I won a scholarship to study in Florence, Italy. It was a life-changing experience – both professionally and personally.

The Italian people know how to celebrate life; they indulge daily with dedicated time for rest, play, coffee, food and wine. They’re obsessed with design in all its forms: fashion, interiors, architecture. They enjoy the simple things in life yet satisfy their desires with the finer things. Initially, my Italian vocabulary was limited, but there was no mistaking the words 'bella’ and ‘bello' used so pervasively. The Italians find 'beautiful' in everything – women, men, food, shoes, cars, their afternoon siesta, the sunset with an aperitif. To me, the definition of beautiful – 'Pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically' – perfectly encapsulates the role of an interior designer.

I created Mia Lake Interiors to find and make 'beautiful' across every touchpoint of interior design, be it a kitchen layout, a selection of furniture, a curation of art, the experience for my clients, the documentation for our builders, or day-to-day life in the studio with my colleagues. I am passionate about beautiful aesthetics, but I like to delve beyond the surface. I’m equally obsessed with function, possibilities, finding the answers and creating a process that feels enjoyable and easy for everyone involved.
